Health Promotion
All Health Promotion Programs are free of charge and open to CAF members (regular and reserve), their spouses and dependents aged 18+, cadets and rangers, foreign military personnel on exchange posting or training with the CAF, civilian Defence Team employees, and veterans.

CFB Winnipeg’s Health Promotion is here to help members of our community be their best version of themselves. Whether it is by taking one of our courses or briefings or joining us in one of our out of classroom activities we hope to make the healthy choice the easy choice.
Our courses and workshops are free to all members of the Defense Team and their adult family members. They are preventative in nature and provide you with the tools you need to lead healthy lives. These courses fall under 4 core areas: Social Wellness, Nutritional Wellness, Addictions Free Living and Active Living/Injury Prevention. The full catalogue of our courses is offered at least once every quarter.
When not in the classroom, Health Promotion is working with the military community and our CFMWS partners to offer programming/activities that support health & wellness. This includes visiting units, completing health & wellness audits, championing inclusive environments, infrastructure projects to promote active living, and working with messes to provide low-risk drink options.

Hello everyone,
We hope this email finds you well!! Please see below for all the workshops, events, and challenges that will be offered from Health Promotion this month.
With the (hopefully) warmer weather coming in April, it means wanting and needing more energy as the outdoor activity season ramps up. With this in mind, the April Wellness Challenge will be focused on the importance of getting enough quality sleep to keep us active and healthy. Quality sleep is essential for overall health, cognitive function, emotional well-being, and the prevention of chronic diseases. The goal is to consistently track the number of hours you are sleeping each night, with the goal of getting 7 hours minimum. Remember, we are not looking for perfection, track as many days as you are able. Participation draws will be made after that month’s tracking period ends. You have until May 5 to finish tracking the days you achieved 7 hours of sleep. Please use the link to register for the challenge 17-wing-wellness-challenge.
Quality sleep refers to the restorative and rejuvenating sleep that allows the body and mind to recover from daily stressors. You can self-assess by asking yourself (the questions below) RU SATED?
Regularity: Do you go to bed and get up at the same time?
Satisfaction: Are you satisfied with the quality of your sleep?
Alertness: Do you stay awake all day without dozing?
Timing: Are you asleep between 2am and 4am?
Efficiency: Do you spend less than 30 min awake at night?
Duration: Do you sleep between 7 and 9 hours per day?
