Medium Arctic Mobility Vehicle Showcase at CFB Winnipeg

On 21 August 2026, members of Transportation and Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (TEME) hosted a hands-on "What, Come, See and Operate" event at Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg, giving Logistics staff the opportunity to experience the newly acquired Medium Arctic Mobility Vehicle (MAMV) firsthand.

Designed to support operations in Canada's Arctic and northern regions, the MAMV can traverse challenging terrain including deep snow, tundra, muskeg, waterways, and other soft ground conditions. The vehicle serves as an interim capability while the longstanding BV 206 fleet is being replaced.

Participants received an informative overview of the MAMV from Master Warrant Officer Stephen Abbott (A4 Logistics, 1 Canadian Air Division (1 CAD) Headquarters), while Master Corporal (MCpl) Bryan Shields and MCpl Dimitri McKeown-Rodrigues (17 Mission Support Squadron TEME) supervised those eager to get behind the wheel.

Captain Melanie Rogowsky (1 CAD) was the first to take the controls for a ride across the vehicle's challenging test route while Major Mary Valair (1 CAD) and five other Defence Team members sat in the back. Wing Chief Warrant Officer Richard Rousseau (17 Wing, Winnipeg) was not left out as he also got in the driver’s seat to operate the MAMV. Despite the rugged terrain, participants agreed that the MAMV delivered an impressive performance and demonstrated its value as a reliable Arctic mobility platform.
