ree

The Winnipeg Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) is pleased to introduce Adepeju “Ade” Aina, BA, MSW, RSW, as its new social worker, child and family, on a term basis while Samanta Dubois is on maternity leave.

Ade brings over 15 years of experience in social work and a strong commitment to helping families thrive. She holds a Master of Social Work, a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Diploma in Medical and Psychiatry Social Work, and a Certificate in Addiction Counselling. Her distinguished career includes serving as assistant chief medical social worker at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where she provided support in mental health, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, and general medicine. Most recently, Ade served as clinical manager and psychotherapist at Oaktree Therapy, where she counselled clients through complex mental health needs.

At the MFRC, Ade will assist military and veteran families as they navigate the unique challenges of military life resulting from relocations, family absences due to deployment or training, and transitioning in and out of service. She will provide counselling, resources, and referrals to strengthen the family and its individual members as they navigate through these challenges.

Ade will work with children, teens, individuals, couples, and families using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Play Therapy, among others. She is also trained to support individuals with behavioural challenges, addictions, and special needs.

Her approach focuses on creating a safe, respectful space where boundaries are honoured and trust is built, ensuring clients feel supported and understood in moments of stress and crisis.

“Families are the anchor in life’s storms. When challenges arise, staying connected through love, trust, and communication is what truly holds us together,” said Ade.

Originally from Lagos, Nigeria, Ade moved to Canada seeking better opportunities for her children. She appreciates Manitoba’s warm, friendly community and stunning lakes. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her husband and three boys and volunteers with her women’s group.

Ade is excited to contribute to the resilience and success of military families.

“It brings me so much joy to see families thrive, and I take great pride in having this chance to support the military community,” she shared.

Ade offers in-person, virtual, and phone counselling sessions. To book an appointment:Email:  adepeju.aina@winnipegmfrc.caCall: 204-833-2500, ext. 257 4056
